USA National IQ Test the next big event.
They may be the world's super power but just how smart is the average American? We might be about to find out, as the acid tongued UK TV host Anne Robinson revealed in a recent interview. She says she's in talks to co-host the US National IQ Test, after successfully hosting the BBC's version.
"There is a possibility she might test the nation's IQs in America. It's under discussion now," reveals her husband and manager John Penrose, adding: "The possibility of testing American IQs would make an interesting evening."
IQ and personality tests were used as a means to control immigration in the US in the 1920s.
In January 2001 the Dutch were the first nation to be tested for intelligence by a live, interactive television show. The concept spread to Belgium, Germany, France and the UK where it was incredibly popular with viewers and online participants.
In Britain, approximately half a million people did the online IQ test online "Test the Nation: The National IQ Test", while 9.1 million viewers watched.
More than 3.1 million people watched The National IQ Test 2002 in Austrlaia while more than 40,000 registered to take the test online at ninemsn.com.
Now, thousands of people are turning to websites such as Free-IQ-Test.com for a mental tune up, and to prepare for the USA version of the program. Sites like free-iq-test.com offer free iq tests and mensa puzzles. Mensa, the internationally renowned high IQ society, has a worldwide membership of almost 100,000 members in more than 100 countries. "We're expecting up to half of all households with internet access will log-in to sites like ours by the end of this year" Free-iq-test.com announced recently.
Critics of the National IQ test say the best way to measure IQ is with a qualified psychologist who will administer a test that may take several hours. "Nevertheless the IQ test offered by www.free-iq-test.com will provide a very good estimate of your IQ".
